Eternal Optimist // Chinchilly

I always seem to find myself in periods where I either care about my nails a lot or I really just don't, at all. Lately I've been a bit obsessive about my them, trying to find the perfect colors to go with the weather/mood/outfit/what have you. I would say I own a good amount of nail polishes, but some of them I go back and question myself, "Janay, what where you thinking?!?!?"

As of lately it's been all about basics for me, I'm trying to stray away from the hot pinks, way too pale pinks, and electric blues ( gross ). I picked up these two colors from essie on a whim and they're perfect for spring! Not too dark and not too light, and within the pastel spring palette :)

The pink one is Eternal Optimist ( 90% of me bought this for the name ) and the muted gray/purple is Chinchilly. I also picked up the Sally Hansen Insta-Dri because I can't paint my nails, sit still, and still have them looking somewhat decent.
It saves me time, and I don't find myself cursing beneath my breath whenever I accidentally touch something with my drying nails. It's a godsend.

Happy March! Spring time is just around the corner.

First of all my birthday is this month, so I had to make a wish list, duh. But to be honest all I really want this year for my birthday is a bouquet of flowers and maybe a record or two ( and a record player to play them all on!!!! ). Everything else is just a collection of things that would be nice to have, but I already feel like I have everything I could possibly want at the moment. But anyways!

Spring break has come and gone for me, but that basically means that summer is here to stay until December in Florida. Summers are loooooong and HOT in Florida. Meaning jeans are a complete no unless you want to roast your legs. Finding oversized jeans is always a struggle for me, I'm convinced the boyfriend jeans look wasn't entirely meant for girls which thighs, but I refuse to stop looking!

I've also recently been really loving Triangl swimsuits. They're so expensive, but they're so pretty. I might have to splurge with one of my paychecks on of these days…
They're just really simple, but they're still fun, and I feel like a lot of swimsuits are a little too much on the fun side ( I'm looking at you victoria's secret ) and they just seem to be made very well.

Another trend that is steadily emerging is the slip dress. These are so so perfect for summer because they're so lightweight and comfortable. I only own one and it is not flattering at all on it's own, so I might have to buy one that's a little bigger so it doesn't hug me. Also, I feel like throwing a flannel over one of these creates a really cool, laid-back look and it'll probably be my go-to this summer.

Everything else is fairly small and have been featured on my past wish list's besides the Diana, and I'm still deciding if I really want that or not. I've been messing with photography a lot lately, specifically film, and I've actually really been loving it. Right now I'm shooting with a 35mm and printing in a dark room, maybe I'll make a post about that soon.

ATL

Seems as if I've abandoned my blog for the past couple weeks. Whooooops. Sorry about that. The culprit is mostly school and finals. A couple of other things have gone a bit wonky as well but they're not important.

It's a bit late for a Thanksgiving post, but I recently went to Atlanta during break. Last time I went to ATL I think I was about 6 or 8, one of those, whatever I was young. We were only able to go to downtown ATL for a few hours ( seriously like 2.5 hours ) so I wasn't able to see much or do much at all! :(

Centennial Park was so, so beautiful  and I wasn't able to do anything but take pictures. There was a ferris wheel ( that lit up, ugh so beautiful ) ice skating, a huggge christmas tree, and the whole park was decorated so beautifully. We have nothing like that in Florida. Besides Disney, and you have to drop at least a hundred to even get in. Definitely wish we could have stayed longer, I didn't do anything that I wanted to do at all!

COASTLINE FESTIVAL 2013

So I'm officially the worst blogger ever for not taking more photos/videos of this day. But honestly it's so hard to whip out your camera sometimes when you're having such an amazing time and you're trying to enjoy it.

So basically if you don't know what Coastline is, it's a new music festival held in Tampa and West Palm Beach, Florida. This is probably the only music 'festival' we get besides 97x's The Next Big Thing and Warped Tour. Bunch of alternative and indie bands/food trucks/crafts/and beer. A whole bunch of fun.

Coastline had two stages for bands, which was surprising since none of them were playing at the same time. Show started at 12 in the afternoon and ended some time after 10 in the evening. We left before that though because if anything else happened to us we might have just died on the spot. Plus we were really tired/hungry/shocked/inspired/a mix of emotions.

All the bands that played were absolutely fantastic but Andria and I predominantly went for the Neighbourhood, and their set was about halfway through the show on the second stage, or the Gulf stage. And we actually got to meet them! Twice actually. Coastline was nice enough to have an autograph tent for the majority of the bands. We were actually the last to meet them/the cut off point ( Thank goodness for Andria's luck ) because the line was so incredibly long and they were about to be late to their set. You always picture how you're going to meet someone you look up to/adore and when you actually get the chance it doesn't go as planned. I was so quiet, I just handed them my CD and had them sign it. It was so embarrassing lol. I'm such a goober. We met Jesse and Zach again briefly when Jesse came over and complimented our blanket we made ( So nice !!!! )  They're all so sweet, hopefully I get to meet them/see them again sometime soon so I can redeem myself.

But yeah, sorry for the lack of pictures/content. It was honestly one of the best days I've had in a really, really long time, I was just trying to soak it all in. And I just felt so incredibly inspired and alive the whole time. So amazing what music can do for you/to do.

I also actually got to enter to win tickets to next year's show so fingers crossed!

'Tis the season for wish lists! I've actually been eyeing all of these things for a while now but I haven't gotten around to ever actually purchasing them, and every time Rihanna releases something new for MAC it seems to sell out in like 2 days. I've also really been into black, black, and more black, and shoes, especially cut out boots which are probably towards the top of my list this year. What's on your list?
